Yes, all lodges and camps we work with meet strict safety standards. Most accommodations have 24-hour security and are strategically located within or near the national parks. Staff are trained in safety protocols and emergency procedures are always available.

Is Wi-Fi available during the safari?

Accepted Answer

Most lodges and camps offer Wi-Fi, although connection may be limited in remote areas. In the national parks the mobile network is often weak, so we advise not to be dependent on the internet during game drives. It is actually a great opportunity to disconnect for a while and fully enjoy nature.

How do I book a safari?

You can book a safari via our online booking form on the website, or by contacting us directly by email or telephone. After receiving your request, we will put together a non-binding travel proposal tailor-made within 48 hours. Once you agree, you will receive a confirmation and you can pay the deposit to definitively secure your trip.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel up to 60 days before departure, you will receive a full refund minus administration costs. Between 60 and 30 days before departure, 50% of the travel sum will be charged. If you cancel within 30 days before departure, the full amount is due. We therefore always recommend taking out cancellation insurance.

How does the payment work?

When booking we require a deposit of 30% of the total travel sum. The remaining amount must be paid no later than 60 days before the departure date. Payment can be made via bank transfer or iDEAL. You will receive a confirmation by email after each payment.

Can I change my booking after confirmation?

Yes, minor changes such as adjusting activities or accommodation preferences are usually possible free of charge up to 45 days before departure. Major changes, such as changing the travel date, may incur additional costs depending on availability. Please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to make any changes.

Are your safaris suitable for families with children?

Yes, we offer specially designed family safaris that are suitable for children aged 6 and over. Activities are adapted to the age of your children, with shorter game drives and educational nature walks. Please note that a minimum age of 15 years applies for gorilla trekking, this is a rule of the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

What should I pack for a safari?

Pack light, breathable clothes in earth tones (khaki, beige, olive green) and avoid bright colors. Essential items include a good walking shoe, high factor sunscreen, insect repellent with DEET, a hat and a light raincoat. For gorilla trekking, sturdy waterproof hiking boots, long pants and gloves are a must. Don't forget your binoculars and a reusable water bottle.

What camera gear do you recommend?

For wildlife photography we recommend a camera with a telephoto zoom lens of at least 200-400mm for game drives. For gorilla trekking, a bright lens (f/2.8) is useful because of the dark rainforest — flash photography is not allowed with the gorillas. Bring plenty of memory cards and extra batteries, and a dust-proof camera bag is essential on the dirt roads.

Is it safe to go on safari in Uganda?

Yes, Uganda is a safe destination for tourists and is known as 'the pearl of Africa'. The tourist areas and national parks are well monitored by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and local authorities. Our experienced guides know the areas very well and ensure that you are always safe on the road.

Our guides are trained in first aid and always have an emergency kit with them. In the event of a serious medical emergency, we work with evacuation services such as Flying Doctors who can quickly transport you to the nearest hospital. We have 24-hour emergency contact numbers and maintain close ties with medical facilities in the region.

Is travel insurance mandatory?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation cover is mandatory for all our safaris. Make sure your insurance covers activities such as gorilla trekking and walking safaris. We recommend a policy with at least €500,000 cover for medical costs and repatriation.

Do I need a visa for Uganda?

Yes, Dutch citizens need a visa to enter Uganda. You can apply for an e-visa through the official portal visas.immigration.go.ug. A single-visit tourist visa costs $50 USD and is valid for 90 days. We recommend applying for the visa at least two weeks before departure.

Which vaccinations are mandatory?

A yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Uganda and you must be able to show the international vaccination booklet. In addition, vaccinations against hepatitis A and B, DTP and typhoid are strongly recommended. Malaria prophylaxis is essential — consult your GP or the Tropical Center at least six weeks before departure for personal advice.

When is the best time to visit East Africa?

East Africa can be visited all year round, but the dry seasons of June to September and December to February are the most popular for safaris. During these periods, wildlife is more visible as animals gather around water sources. For gorilla trekking in Uganda, the dry months of June-August and December-February are ideal because of the better hiking conditions.

How do I get to the starting point of my safari?

Most safaris start from Entebbe or Kampala, where you will be picked up by our driver-guide. There are direct flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to Entebbe International Airport with KLM, among others. Domestic transfers to the national parks are fully arranged by us, whether by 4x4 vehicle or by domestic flight.
